The Internet and World Wide Web
is a vast storehouse of information on any
subject. Finding your way around it can be confusing. Our instructors
can show you how to search, quality search engines and portals to find
information, how to save information and bookmark your sites to find
them again easily.
At
Skylarkers we teach two ways of accessing and using E-Mail:
Electronic
mail is a fast and efficient way of
communicating with other people, organisations and mailing lists. It is
no longer the domain of the “younger generation”
but a way of overcoming distance to talk to people. But it has also not
replaced the letter.
E-Mail software
– Outlook and Outlook Express, where special software
downloads mail and allows you to send mail with attachments.
Browser Email –
this does the same thing but operates out of your Internet browser. You
probably have heard of Hotmail or Yahoo mail – we can set
this up for you and teach you how to use it.
Chat rooms
allow you to interact with others all over the world. This can be done
by the keyboard or using a microphone.
We can also show you how to set up and use: Yahoo
Messenger Chat Room
Digital Cameras and Burning CD ROMs
Learn how to record and store data such as
your photos onto CD. Software can be explained to you so you
know how to store your memories and do that all important backup of
your files. We can even show you how to download and burn legal music
from the internet.

Trojan Horses are, how to prevent them and ease your concerns about
what they do. We can help you tap into free antivirus protection. We also can
give you information about free Adware/spyware
removal software – what it is used for (to get rid of

importance of firewalls.
